   With regards to advertisements it has made the teenage population crave things that they do not necessarily need or what. This goes back to the 1940’s and 50’s when t.v. was such a new thing. Teens soon turned to television as the prime source and entertainment and it became the topic of most conversation. Television turned the nation from a literary dominant society into a visually dominant society. It has had the ability to create panic because of its widespread reach and can inform. As the years have gone on, television has become a manipulative agent that can appear convicing and true, but it not. There are programs these days that do pose educational, but whether teens watch it or not is truly unknown for those who do watch it won’t admit and those who will admit it aren’t listened to. Television as the decades have worn on has made children and teens desensitized to the violence that goes on in our world because of how often it is showed on t.v. Not only has it desensitized teens it has made them less and less innocent at younger ages. Pre-teens ages 10-12 see older girls on tv wearing short mini skirts and high heels parading around boys and suddenly they want to be like them. Television had made the teen culture grow older at a younger age.
   Television has in some cases brought families together to a common ground, with shows such as Leave it to Beaver, games shows, and family movies, television has brought them to have a common link. In other ways television has pulled families apart by creating such a large rift in the culture. Teens have their shows, adults and children have theirs.
